A little Autumn R & R

We have had the most gorgeous fall season here. I love those crisp fall mornings that turn into warm blue sky afternoons. On one of those days we decided we had to venture over to Smith Mountain Lake, which is a very popular lake resort here in Virginia. It is just 45 minutes down the road and we had yet to explore it. So off we went. It was so nice just laying and basking in the sun while the kids inched their way closer and closer to the lake water. So what started out as throwing rocks into the lake, ended up with Carson and Rylie in their undies soaked with water and mud. But like most fall days the air soon became crisp once again and we were running towards the car with our noses red and runny and jacket tightly wrapped around us.

As Harvey and I sat there watching the kids we were both hit with several memories similar to the one we were making at that moment. From our days exploring the beautiful ocean beaches in Vancouver Canada, to the ones on the beaches of Portugal, we both came to realize once again how lucky we truly are to have seen the many beauties and wonders of so many different and unique places.

Maddie once again took up her quest in finding the most perfect rocks. Her love of rocks has stemmed from the age of 2 and has never ended. Here she has found a piece of plastic that after many days in the water has turned into what looked to her like a crystal.

Rylie truly exhibited what freedom was this day; as she ran from sand to ocean and danced and twirled around. She was feeling the beats and rythmns of mother nature as she was in a constant motion of happiness.

You know your day at the beach was successful when in the end you have to declothe your kids because of dirt, sand and ocean water.
